Across Maryland, local governments, businesses, schools, nonprofits, and communities all consistently say: we need more funding and support to implement Zero Waste policies like food waste reduction, rescue, and composting. But despite the clear climate benefits of keeping food waste out of landfills and incinerators, Maryland has no dedicated funding streams for Zero Waste solutions.
That's why we're supporting legislation (based on last session's HB1318) to create a Wasted Food Reduction and Diversion Fund to support smart programs addressing food waste with dedicated funding. And we need your support! Tell your legislators and Governor Moore to adopt this important bill and support Zero Waste solutions to our waste.
