Microplastics

Scientists are finding alarming amounts of microplastics in our drinking water and our bodies, including the brain. There's a growing body of research showing the potential health impacts of microplastics in the body, with evidence linking to dementia, hormone disruption, infertility, and various cancers.

In the face of these potential health risks, we need to limit the use of microplastics, especially in non-essential uses. AB 823 (authored by Assemblymember Tasha Boerner of San Diego) will ban microplastics in cosmetics, personal care items, and cleaning products, so they don’t get into our bodies or rinse down the drain into water supplies.

This important bill is heading to the Assembly floor soon — please help us send a strong message to your Assemblymember that we want them to vote “aye”!
