Clean Water Action Clean Water Action

Join us for a World Asthma Day Truck Count & Press Conference!

When: NEW RAIN DATE: Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: 1050 Sherman Ave (Twin City Warehousing Co.), Elizabeth NJ

In honor of World Asthma Day on May 6, Clean Water Action is calling all advocates and local community members in Elizabeth to come learn about the connection between diesel truck pollution from NJ’s freight and goods movement industry and asthma. We will also be pressuring local and state legislators to support the ACT Rule (Advanced Clean Trucks) and reject legislation (S3817/A4967) which aims to roll back the ACT Rule.

This event will include opportunities to participate in a truck counting and using air monitors followed by a series of speakers sharing their support towards the ACT Rule and encouraging both the NJ Senate and Assembly to reject bills S3817 and A4967, which proposes the delayed implementation of the lifesaving Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) rule.

Food and refreshments will be provided for participating truck counters and speakers. There will also be opportunities for attendees to speak and share their lived experiences with diesel truck pollution from NJ's freight and goods movement industry with our media partners. We have invited the following local and state legislators to attend: Mayor Bollwage of Elizabeth, Elizabeth City Councilwoman Patricia Perkin-Auguste, Senator Joseph Cryan and Assemblywoman Annette Quijano. Stay tuned for more details and our confirmed speakers!
