Across the nation, large-scale data centers are being constructed to support an industry that's not going away any time soon, and data centers aren't the only industry that will challenge Texas in the near future. We need to protect our state's water, air, and land resources, our economies, and our public health with care and intention moving forward.
We have an opportunity right now to create important guardrails and regulatory frameworks to help protect Texans and our natural resources from the connected challenges of energy, water, and infrastructure that massive development brings. Without these guardrails in place, our energy and water systems could easily be pushed past their limits, with maintenance costs falling to taxpayers.
We can get this right. Let's make sure we're growing in a way that'll serve the generations to come.
