The Pledge

As an elected school board member, park board member, mayor, city council member, or county commissioner, I pledge to: 

• Center the goal of maintaining and protecting swimmable, drinkable, and fishable water for generations to come in my community. 

• Prioritize my community and its people over corporate welfare programs that benefit polluters. 

• Hold polluters accountable with appropriate measures when harm is done to our natural resources. 

• Reject non-disclosure agreements offered by polluters during the policymaking process. 

• Center resident voices and well-being when it comes to the environment and my community's natural resources. 

• Support strong infrastructure to protect residents from toxic chemicals. 

• Give rigorous review of all proposed water permits and water permit amendments to prioritize water safety and security.  

• Reject political and campaign contributions from polluter industries like big oil or chemical manufacturers.
