The Board of State Canvassers determined that the Michiganders For Money Out Of Politics (MMOP) ballot initative has enough signatures to quality for the ballot.
With over half a million petition signatures turned in, it is clear that Michiganders want our own opportunity to vote for the MMOP ballot initiative as it was written in November.
Polling shows that MMOP polls at over 80% favorability with voters across party lines. However, the Michigan legislature can undermine the process and pass their own modified version of Michiganders For Money Out Of Politics as legislation - stopping Michigan voters from passing the ballot initative as-is.
We can't let that happen.
The legislature had the chance to get utility and big corporate contractor money out of Michigan politics, and failed. Now that a citizen-led initiative is almost on the ballot, they want to interfere.
It's our turn now.
Tell the Michigan Senate and House to:
• Let the 40 day legislative window pass so Michigan voters can choose to vote for MMOP in November.
• Pledge support for the MMOP ballot initiative as a concrete demonstration to their constituents that they are ready to listen to us, not the corporations.
