After five years and four bills, hundreds of meetings and dozens of edits, we have finally made it to the governor’s desk with a workable statewide low-income rate assistance (LIRA) bill.
However, it’s not done yet - the governor still needs to sign both bills. He vetoed a prior version of LIRA, so this isn’t a done deal. Tell Governor Newsom that he needs to act on water affordability and sign these bills into law.
