Is your BGE heating bill too high? Do you think we should use cleaner energy to power our homes? Concerned about explosions from methane gas pipelines? Worried about the impacts of climate change on the planet and our children’s lives?
Join the Upgrade Maryland campaign for an organizing meeting on Thursday, September 24, 6-7PM to learn about the Future of Gas in Maryland - and how you can make a difference in October!
Since 2010, BGE gas delivery rates have tripled, far exceeding inflation. While they’ve sought to justify many of these increases with investments in costly infrastructure projects, the lion’s share has gone to their highly criticized gas pipeline replacement program - a program that analysis suggests is prioritizing profits and gas system expansion over safety and consumer benefits.
Now, the Maryland Public Service Commission is investigating long-term planning of gas infrastructure and how it’s adding to our utility bills - and they need to hear from you!
On October 13, the PSC will hold a virtual public hearing on the Future of Gas. Join us for an organizing meeting on Thursday, September 24, 6-7PM, to talk about this public hearing, the future of gas in Maryland, and how you can take action against polluting methane gas and high BGE bills!
The Upgrade Maryland Campaign is a diverse group of businesses, community groups, consumer advocates, environmental organizations, and faith groups working to upgrade Maryland homes and buildings to be more efficient, pollution free, and run on energy that is clean, renewable, and safe. We want to protect residents from unnecessary rate hikes to pay for methane gas equipment and jumpstart an equitable transition to clean heat.
