October 13: Testify on the Future of Gas in Maryland!

Is your BGE heating bill too high? Do you think we should use cleaner energy to power our homes? Concerned about explosions from methane gas pipelines? Worried about the impacts of climate change on the planet and our children’s lives?

Speak out at a virtual public hearing on Tuesday, October 13, 6PM, to tell Maryland's Public Service Commission that you want Maryland to shift away from gas and towards a clean energy future!

Since 2010, BGE gas delivery rates have tripled, far exceeding inflation. While they’ve sought to justify many of these increases with investments in costly infrastructure projects, the lion’s share has gone to their highly criticized gas pipeline replacement program - a program that analysis suggests is prioritizing profits and gas system expansion over safety and consumer benefits.

Now, the Maryland Public Service Commission is investigating long-term planning of gas infrastructure and how it’s adding to our utility bills - and they need to hear from you! Email the Public Service Commission by filling out your information to the right to sign up to testify on October 13.

The Upgrade Maryland Campaign is a diverse group of businesses, community groups, consumer advocates, environmental organizations, and faith groups working to upgrade Maryland homes and buildings to be more efficient, pollution free, and run on energy that is clean, renewable, and safe. We want to protect residents from unnecessary rate hikes to pay for methane gas equipment and jumpstart an equitable transition to clean heat.
